Spyware is one thing a computer owner must deal with. Spyware is most concerned with stealing information about you but still it has the capacity to slow down your computer to the point you will be unable to use it. Viruses, on the other hand are out ruin your computer first and foremost. So as you can see, it is important protect your computer against both spyware and viruses.
In the most basic sense, virus cleaners and spyware cleaners are the same thing. So, if you have a good virus scanner or a good spyware cleaner installed on your computer, you don’t need to install the other kind of program to protect your computer against spyware and viruses. The fact of the matter is a virus protection program and a spyware protection program together on the same PC, don’t work out too well as this arrangement will slow down routine operations.
This article discuses the types of viruses and spyware your cleaner, whether it is a spyware or virus cleaner, should be able to clean out of your computer. Also, we’ll talk about what spyware and viruses can do if they are not cleaned out of a computer.
Dangerous Types of Spyware and Adware
Spyware and adware are similar in the fact they fact the are able to watch what you are doing on your own computer. Adware is more interested in getting information on you as a customer, so that the people who are using it will know how and what to sell to you. Spyware, in many cases, truly spies on you and can find out a lot of very sensitive information such as your social security number.
The word “malware”is a contraction of the words malicious and software. Some malware are viruses and others are types of spyware that are malicious. Some examples of malware are: trojans, keyloggers, browser hijackers, worms, phishing software, rootkits, and bots. You should be sure your spyware or virus remover is capable of getting rid of all of these.
Rootkits, trojans and worms are viruses because they are most concerned with destroying your computer. Keyloggers, browser hijackers, phishing software and bots are types of spyware and they try to get your most private information and if they ruin your computer while doing so, they are not at all concerned.
Some types of malware will actually work together. Two different ones can team up to perform one particular misdeed. For instance, a rootkit will make it possible for a worm to enter into your root files. This worm will duplicate itself many times. Left unchecked, it will ruin the computer altogether.
Spyware, Gone But Not Forgotten
So, now we know we don’t need both spyware removers and antivirus programs installed on our computers. This leads us to believe we need a total one program to keep our computers running in tip top shape, but really there is one more piece of software we should have. When we remove spyware and/or viruses from our computers, we leave registry corruption in its wake. There are many other sources that create registry corruption, but this is one.
This means every computer should have a registry cleaner installed on it because when left alone, registry corruption will make your computer act a lot like some viruses and spyware make a computer act. This means the computer will lose speed and may crash frequently. A good registry scanner should be run once a month or so and after any malware has been removed.

Though there are many people who don’t yet believe registry corruption is an issue in Windows XP and Vista, the truth of the matter is registry corruption is a mortal enemy to these operating system. It can cause many problems for these operating systems and the persons who use the computers they are installed on.
Registry files are huge and complex. Some of these files tell each command a computer operation is carrying out where it will find its next needed file. You can think of these files as pointers.
How Registry Corruption Slows Down Computer Operations
Much of what we know as registry corruption is nothing more than pointers or directors that should be showing the operating system’s commands where to get their needed information, but instead these pointers, which are left over from no longer performed operations, lead the commands into the abyss.
In the new, very large operating systems, one false pointer can lead the operating system hunting for a long time before it discovers the hunt will bear no fruit. Multiply this type of useless operation by thousands, maybe even millions and you will have an idea of the effect registry corruption has on your computer’s speed.
So you can see, the overall effect registry corruption has on a computer is that is slows down its operations. Sometimes this slow down will not be too noticeable. However, it is possible for registry corruption to slow the computer to the point it makes it difficult to use the computer at all. Registry corruption also makes a computer prone to errors and even the blue screen of death.
Registry Corruption and Viruses/Spyware Cause Similar Problems
Registry corruption may make a computer behave in a similar fashion to the way a computer operates when it is infected with spyware or a virus. Like registry corruption, spyware and viruses can also make a computer slow down and be error prone. However, where registry corruption makes the computer preform unnecessary operations, spyware and viruses steal the computer’s resources.
To get an idea of how much of your computer’s resources are being used, open up your task manager. (Ctrl-Alt-Del in Windows XP) This will show you how much of your CPU is in use at any time. If your computer is idle but you can see much of your CPU’s power is being used, it could be spyware is using this power. It could also be that you have many programs open in your system tray. If you do, closing them should be your first order of business. The point is, if your computer’s resources are being used, you will not be able to get the computer to do anything, even open up your Web browser.
If a lot of your computer’s resources were being used and you tried to get the computer to do any task, like open up your word processor, you would see your computer would open it very slowly, if it was able to do it at all.
To give a quick recap, we all need to keep our computers to be free of viruses and spyware. However, if this is all we do we still may have a computer that is slow and error prone and may crash on occasion. The reason a spyware free computer would behave like this is that it probably has a corrupt registry.
It is important, but not enough to keep your PC free of viruses and spyware. On occasion a computer’s registry needs to be scanned for and cleaned of corruption. Doing this will insure your computer will run without producing errors and it will always run at its peak speed.

All of us want to protect ourselves. At home we have fire alarms, sprinklers and burglar alarms to keep our families safe. Car alarms and GPS for our cars keep our car and its occupants safe, and the rest of the time we are on the lookout for runaway cars, buses and those who would try to do us harm. For the same reasons we choose to protect our sensitive documents from anyone who would want to use the contents for something untoward.
By placing a password on your important files you are ensuring that your documents are safe from those who would seek to exploit it, such as identity thieves. If you own a business you will want to do the same for your financial information as well as and documents that contain info about your clients. While you may not think it is important now, if the data should ever get stolen you will be thankful for it.
The important thing is that no matter what password you choose for your files, you need to keep track of it. Nothing is more irritating than trying to get into an important file and realizing that you forgot the password. Although writing down your passwords seem like a bad idea, if you are prone to forgetfulness it may be necessary. Above all you want to make sure that your passwords never fall into the wrong hands.
Luckily there are programs out there which are designed to help you recover your files should you forget the password. These programs, referred to as password recovery software, work in a few different ways to figure out what password you used.
Initially the program will try to open your document using a combination of letters and number to see if it can guess the right password. This may work to gain entry into your files, but if you used a long or complex password that includes a variety of characters and symbols it may not succeed.
The second method is to go through the dictionary systematically and again try to hit on the right word. Most programs will allow you to customize your search and add numbers or symbols within the password if you know that is how you structured it. If neither method has results, then the software can try to disable the password protection on the file itself instead of trying to find the password.
While there are many software programs offered for free, most people will have little success in getting these programs to access their files. Investing a few dollars will get you a much more streamlined program that will give you a much better chance of accessing your file, and in less time.
Once you have recovered your files, you may want to consider an alternate method keeping track of your passwords so you dont forget them. If you have a mobile or PDA and you can password protect it, then it may be a good place to keep keys to your important files. That way your passwords are close by, but not linked to your computer.
When you are password protecting your file, think about saving your password in a secure document that uses 1 password to open but includes all your passwords. This way is very simple to remember and not very complicated to retrieve if you do. This way there is never a moment where you cant open a document or file.

Spyware is one thing a computer owner must deal with. Viruses, on the other hand are out ruin your computer first and foremost. So as you can see, it is important protect your computer against both spyware and viruses.
Today, it is not necessary to have both a virus scanner and a spyware scanner. In fact, when both programs are installed, the tend to get in each others way and slow down your computer’s operations. However, you should make sure you have an antivirus or spyware program installed that will take care of all the problematic spyware and viruses around today.
This article points out which viruses and spyware it is mandatory your spyware or virus cleaner is able to clean off your hard drive. Also, we’ll discuss what this awful stuff is capable of doing to a computer and even your financial well-being.
Spyware and Adware
The difference between spyware and adware is that adware wants information on you as a potential customer and spyware wants information about personal things no one should know except you. This information usually includes the likes of your banking information and passwords.
Malicious software is what is meant when we say “malware.” Some of these parasites we call malware are what we know as viruses and others are types are spyware. Some of the popular malware today that you should make sure you are protected from are browser hijackers, phishing software, rootkits, bots, keyloggers and trojans.
The virus types of malware are destructive codes that are out to render your computer inoperable. Spyware and adware on the other hand are more interested in your finances and it is this kind of malware that is responsible for identity theft.
Sometimes a virus and spyware will team up on a computer or worse, the computer owner. For instance, a worm will be attached to a rootkit. The rootkit is capable of working its way into your computer’s operating system and then the worm will unleash its terror on your computer.
So, to get the best performance out of your computer, you should have registry cleaner installed as well as a spyware/virus cleaner. A registry cleaner should be run after any type of spyware or virus is removed because corruption will make a computer behave in a similar fashion to the way it acts when it has spyware. It will make your computer slow down and be prone to errors and crashes.

Shopping online is something that has grown in popularity throughout the years, especially since websites have become more secure and the shopping as a whole has become a much easier experience. As a matter of fact, many people are finding that it is simply easier to just sit at their computer and plug in a credit card for the items they want. This is opposed to hopping in their car, driving to the shopping mall, and standing in lines all evening long. In other words, the online method of checking out is much more efficient than standing in a cashier?s line.
However, there are mistakes that people make when shopping online. It is very important to know what these mistakes are so that you don?t make them the next time you buy something online.
The mistakes
Now, you might be wondering what these mistakes could possibly be because the Internet is safe, right? Well, it is true that there has been technology put in place that allows the Internet to be safer when carrying out transactions. People have worried about identity theft and stolen credit card numbers for years when it comes to the Internet. But these new and improved ways of shopping online have changed.
But some things have not changed, which is what contributes to these mistakes:
? Shopping from a site that doesn?t have https:// in the address bar. You are used to seeing http://, but the https:// means that the connection is secure. This is very important when entering personal information such as a credit card number.
? Shopping from an unfamiliar site. Although someone may have said, ?You have to shop from this site.? You need to ask them if they have actually received the item. You also need to ask them if the charge was carried out correctly on their credit card. Again, make sure that the site is secure.
? Entering too much personal information is another issue. If you have a merchant asking you for your social security number, you need to hit your browser?s back button because there is no need for that. If they say it is for ?verification? purposes, that is not so. They shouldn?t be able to compare your social security number in the first place because they don?t really have access to any part of it.
? Make sure you keep an eye on the shopping cart. There are some instances in which it does not distinguish between adding something to the cart and checking out. You need to be careful because you might find yourself checking out instead of adding more items to your cart. This could result in you having to go back and do another transaction, which means additional shipping charges if you choose to use the same merchant.
These are some of the basic mistakes that can be made. In a nutshell, always be mindful of what it is you?re doing on the Internet.
Consequences
If you are wondering about the consequences that could be suffered from these mistakes, you?re looking at possible identity theft, theft of credit card numbers, money taken for an item that you never receive, and the possibility of having to pay more than what you really have to pay.
Fortunately, these consequences can be avoided by ensuring that you?re doing business with a reputable site and one that is secure. This means that you can have confidence in the company that you are doing business with. You shouldn?t have to be afraid to carry out a transaction on the Internet. By taking the right precautions you can do just that. You can have the confidence that you are going to get exactly what it is you ask for.

These days it’s strange to hear people say, “I’m just not computer literate,” as computers have evolved from archaic scientific calculators to simple point-and-click type machines. We suspect that today’s “computer illiterates” are people who haven’t taken the time to experiment with such a machine. And we strongly believe that spending just twenty minutes with one could turn the most adamant technological caveman into any one of those who have fun wreaking chatroom havoc on the Internet today.
Today, one only needs to learn how to manipulate a mouse, punch a few buttons on a keyboard, or really just turn the thing on to use a computer. It’s hard for some folks to believe, but the computers of this generation almost run themselves! For fun, let’s investigate just how little knowledge these thousand-dollar machines actually require.
Can an absolute newbie operate a computer without knowing how to use a mouse or keyboard? Assuming that a computer is set up to operate on voice command - sure! Voice command software allows users to tell a computer what to do and the computer responds by fulfilling the user’s commands. Although it’s pretty new and still under development, voice directed technology has already infiltrated consumer service related systems.
Think back to the last time that you paid a bill over the phone. Instead of speaking to a human being, chances are that you spoke to a computer that not only responded to what you said and followed the commands that you gave it, it also asked you for more information such as your full study or credit card number. In this case, a mortal (such as you) operated a computer without even knowing it!
Can an absolute newbie sit down at a computer without knowing how to use one? Assuming that a computer is set up to operate on touch command - the answer is again, yes! Touch command software allows users to literally touch objects on a monitor and tell the computer what to do with a finger. Known as “kiosks,” these programs are already in use world wide at ATM machines, employment centers, and in health monitoring systems.
Neither the rodent nor the set of keys is required. A mechanism user usually needs to hold assorted boxes upon the shade to carry out the computer. Sure, the programming at the back of such record is endless as well as advanced; though to the finish user, it creates mechanism have use of reduction intimidating as well as solid easy.
Of course when we talk about operating a computer, we envision more involvement than speaking on the phone or touching things on a screen. The above illustrations were just a couple of examples of how far computer technology has grown, and how far we’ve pushed “user-friendliness” to its limit. Eventually, the keyboard and mouse will have to play a role when computer newbie’s have to work with one as a cash register, as a hotel booking program, or as a library’s catalog system.
These requirements don’t make computers any less easy to operate, but they don’t make them that much harder either. So much of today’s software is designed to accommodate the experience of a new individual that anyone could get connected to the Internet, send an email message, and download an MP3 file within the first five hours of purchasing a individualized PC.

If drivers, applications or software were never removed from our computers and we never surfed the net, we would probably never need to clean our registries. Bear in mind spyware and malware are types of software and they are often being removed from our computers. This, in itself, means it is necessary to clean the registry often. Unfortunately, it is also true normal internet surfing will put a strain on a PC’s registry. So, if we don’t clean our registry, corruption will accumulate on our hard drives and the sad fact is, this will cause our computer’s performance to suffer greatly.
Computer crashes, errors and generally poor performance results when corruption is allowed to build up in the registry. One of the reasons registry corruption is prevalent in computers these days when it wasn’t so noticeable years ago is because today’s operating systems, Windows XP and Vista are huge when compared with older operating systems such as Windows 98. These huge files make it necessary for an operation to travel a long way to get around corruption before it can be executed and this slows everything down.
If a computer’s registry were left uncleaned, at certain point it could actually render the computer inoperable. So, cleaning the registry regularly with a good registry cleaning program is important. It would be unwise to use a low quality cleaner, such as a free one because as you will soon see, it may not do the job so well and this could also lead to an inoperable computer. Of course, an inoperable computer means there will be valuable files lost. Some of them may be difficult or impossible to replace!
I have concluded there is no such thing as a free registry cleaner. I have done so because after examining the terms of all the free programs I have seen, it is clear that these programs are designed to scan the registry for errors and remove the first 50 incidents of corruption it finds for free. Then, the customer must pay to get the rest of the corruption removed. 50 incidents is not a lot.
In order to sign you up as a paid customer so you can get all of your corruption cleaned out, the so called free cleaner enacts a pop-up reminding you you have a corrupted registry and if you don’t buy this free product your computer will likely fail! The pop-up is very annoying and difficult to get rid of.
But wait, there’s more! Before you can get your first scan, you have to give the company your E-mail address and this gives this company the okay to badger you some more! So, even if this registry repair software was free, you would still be paying with aggravation.
I know I’m starting to get picky, but another thing you have to watch out for is a lot of these types of registry fixers are not Vista ready. So, chances are they are not up to date in many other ways as well.
To sum it all up, a free registry cleaner is probably more expensive than the most advanced ones available today. So, does this mean you get what you pay for? Not really; not when the top registry cleaner on the market is less expensive than these so-called free ones.
Don’t be afraid to ask someone who has probably used a registry cleaner which one he or she would purchase. Also, somebody who is familiar with the inner workings of a computer would be able to give you a recommendation. Just don’t go without a registry cleaner. That would be too risky! And please, stay away from the free ones! As you’ve seen they are unreliable and they are not free, either!
So, what we have learned is; there is really no such thing as a free registry cleaner. Still, a good registry cleaner is needed for the upkeep of the modern PC because registry corruption has now become a big problem and it is a problem that didn’t exist a few short years ago.

Business continuity is a matter of business survival. If you?re not sure what it is, it is what you do to make sure everything is up and running in the case of a disaster. Many companies have a business continuity plan, which means they will be prepared in case of an earthquake, a power surge, or another disaster that could keep them from doing business.
A business continuity service can help a business continue their business operations. This is usually because data center storage and other functions are taken care of off-site and usually from another place in the world. However, what this does is allow the business to retrieve the information that they need. In many cases, customers are not even aware that there is a problem. They don?t need to know that there is a problem. All they need to know is that their situation was taken care of accordingly. They don?t have to know about anything that is going on within your business.
Evaluating a business continuity service
To find the right business continuity service, you need to evaluate the service. First, you need to look at the continuity managed services they offer. If they offer things that you don?t need, then see if they can offer you just what you need. A lot of business continuity services have plans that you can choose from. Basically, you are able to customize your plan to what you need. Only you know what your business truly needs, so you should be able to have a choice within reason.
To really find out if they are everything they say that they are, you can check with the Better Business Bureau or similar organization in their area. You can also check online reviews and such. Someone somewhere has most likely said something about the business. They have either talked about how well the business did for them or how horrible their service was. Yes, it is very hard to satisfy everyone, but you can more or less pinpoint negative reviews or statements that are from hard to please people.
As you continue on in their research, make sure you ask the business continuity service a lot of questions. Ask them any questions about things that concern you. Also see about a trial period. Although it is slim that you?ll experience a disaster, you can possibly arrange a testing of the service to see how well they come through for you. You want to see how seamless they are when it comes to continuing on your services when your business is dealing with a disaster.
The advantages
The advantages are quite evident. First of all, you’re not alone in dealing with a disaster. Second, you do not have to answer a thousand questions from your employees. Third, your employees will know more about what is going on. That means they are less likely to panic when disaster strikes. The last thing you need during a disaster is a lot of unnecessary panic. This can make things worse than what they already are.
The disaster itself is hard enough the way it is, so it is only right that you employ a business continuity service to ensure that things go as smooth as possible. You need to focus on those other things that are affected. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not you’re entering into a situation that could take years to recover from. Then again, there are times when a business encounters a disaster that they never recover from. With a business continuity service in place and a plan, disaster can be averted.
