Don’t Read This Unless You Want Your Computer to Die!

by Chuck the Computer Geek

Here it is; the computer that you have always wanted. The manual tells you very little about why or how to use many of the programs on it. You know you are supposed to clean the hard drive but you are not quite sure how to do that. What is antispyware? Well I can answer many of those questions for you and a few more.

Make sure that you have a firewall, antivirus software, antispyware, and a good disk cleaning program. You may want to also get a good registry cleaner. Keeping your computer clean and free from old files is important in keeping it running fast and smoothly. Take all of the icons that you do not frequently use off of your desktop. Remove programs from the startup menu that do not have to be there. This helps the computer to start up faster.

You should run your antiviral programs and antispyware programs daily to keep your computer free of harmful content. This content can make your computer run slow, or completely wipe out the data on your hard drive.

When you download and run a program, many files are left in temporary folders and other folders that you know longer need. Every website you visit leaves a file on your computer so you need to clean out the cookies and cache files. There are some good programs out there that will do this for you with just a few clicks. You can find them free or at a small cost. Make sure to keep all of your software up to date.

A registry cleaner can keep your registry clean by removing old file strings, which will keep your computer running better. Keep an anti spyware program on to help you to avoid and clean any spyware from your computer that comes along with some programs like free ones.

Remove programs that you do not use. Program files are often large and will take up space and can slow down your computer. If you think you might have a use for it later you should have a backup disk for it. It is just best to remove whatever you do not use.

If you keep up with all of these procedures, this should provide enough maintenance for your computer to run smoothly. If a problem develops run your antiviral software, or your PC doctor program to try to pinpoint the problem. There is also online help available for most computers.

Dedicated Hosting for Beginners

by Amy Nutt

Dedicated hosting is different from shared hosting in that it resides on a server by itself. Shared hosting means that several websites are sharing the same server, but when there is a problem with that single server, all of the websites residing on that server will fall victim to that problem. That is why more and more people are turning to dedicated hosting.

A business can purchase their own dedicated server or they can lease it. There are other options available for those who choose a dedicated server and that is to have their hosting managed. That is why dedicated hosting is frequently referred to as managed hosting. Nevertheless, dedicated hosting is more flexible than shared hosting.

Return on investment

In many ways, dedicated hosting can result in a larger return on investment. This is due to the fact that there is very little overhead involved. If a company were to have their dedicated hosting in-house, they may be facing some pretty steep costs. However, employing the hosting company to take care of all of the administrative responsibilities can prove to be quite profitable.

For those who may not have the IT staff or be able to afford a staff to take care of the server, having the hosting company take care of technical issues and routine maintenance is going to be something you might find quite handy. Basically, that allows you to concentrate on those things that are important within your business. Not that your hosting isn’t important, because it is. It’s just that your hosting won’t do you any good if you don’t do the marketing activities that are needed to draw people to your business. It also won?t do you any good if you get a reputation for not being able to handle consumer needs because you?re too busy concentrating on your hosting.

A must for your business

So if you’re not too sure about what to do as far as your Internet presence goes, dedicated hosting is a good place to start. You can get all of the assistance that you need to ensure that everything goes smoothly. This means that you don’t have to have technical expertise about data centers and you don?t have to have knowledge of a lot of the technical turns. Your hosting company will explain things to you in ways that you can understand so that you know what it is you’re getting. They will also not do anything drastic unless they let you know what it is they are doing, so you don’t have to worry about some sort of unauthorized action being carried out.

If you’re not on the Internet yet because you are not sure what it is you need to do, this is a great place to start. Once you figure out your hosting options, you can then work on getting a website built for your business. Many businesses find that they profit more on the Internet because they can reach a global audience. Reaching a global audience means global sales, if it is possible for your business. You’ll notice a considerable difference in the amount of revenue that you bring in. What’s great is that dedicated hosting does that for you.

So don’t worry if you’re a beginner or you know nothing about the world of Internet because you’ll definitely catch on. You’ll be able to learn as you go as someone else does the work. All you have to do is find a reliable company. Look at Internet reviews, talk to other businesses, and check out what businesses similar to you are using. Compare price plans and options. By doing this, you’ll find the best dedicated hosting plan for you.

Adware Removal for Free

by John Pawlett

Although you see many banners and ads for “free adware programs,” many of these products are not really free. Some may offer a free trial of their product so you can test it out for a few days before buy it. The only thing wrong with this is you do not get to use it long enough to really decide if it will work for you in the long run. Some allow you to download a limited demo version of their product so you can see how it works. Again, you really don’t have the time to try it out as much as you need to to make an informed decision.

This is not to say that this is case with all free adware companies. There are some that are completely free. So, what’s the catch, right? Many of the totally free adware removal programs are very basic and somewhat limited in their performance. Yes, they may get the job done, but there’s no guarantee that they will be able to remove every single bit of spyware from your PC. If you are choosing to go with a free spyware removal software, you should really do you homework before downloading anything. Sometimes, these “free” products themselves carry adware, which totally defeats the purpose of using it to clean your computer.

The biggest reason you should take the time to research any free adware removal software before you try it is because some of them are just downright fake. Some businesses thrive off the annoying pop-ups that adware presents to the computer’s users, so they market free adware removing software, pretending to be the good guys. This is unethical because, in reality, they aren’t really removing the adware…if anything, they are adding more!

Fortunately, there are some good, reliable adware programs available for free online. Websites such as Adwareking.com offer reviews and information on a few of the products that will actually get the job done. As with anything you try, you just need to be very careful. If something looks shady or “too good to be true,” it probably is!

If you are still hesitant about downloading any free adware programs, there is another alternative to getting the harmful data off your computer. You can manually delete the adware if you choose. Most of the spyware can be uninstalled from the “Add/Remove Programs” section in the Control Panel. You can also get an antivirus program (if you don’t already have one, it is highly recommended that you get one as soon as possible to protect your computer) that scans your entire system for any evidence of potentially damaging files and folders. This may be the safest route if you do not wish to take the time to investigate the free adware removal programs available.

It is essential that you clear your computer of adware regularly, before something irreversible happens. Adware can cause system freezing, crashing, and automatic shut downs, all of what could cause data loss and damage to your computer. While it is important to get rid of the unwanted adware before it causes a catastrophe, you should be careful with how you go about removing it. Play it safe, do your research, and you should be able to keep a clean, optimal performing PC!

The Easy Way To Make Sure You Are Using The Best Anti-Spyware

by Jack Mason

These days it’s ever-so important to use an anti-spyware program on your computer to protect it from harmful spyware and adware infections. There are many different spyware removers to choose from so we thought it would be useful to discuss some important things to look for in an anti-spyware program.

It’s essential that you protect you computer from spyware and adware if you are connected to the internet. Without a proper anti-spyware program, you put your personal information and computer’s performance speed at risk.

Since there are so many different spyware removers available, we thought we would list a few key features you should always look for:

1) Ability to detect and destroy all forms of spyware

The term “spyware” consists of a lot of different types of infections. You have to look out for keyloggers, robots, browser hijackers, worms, dialers - There’s far too many to list here!

Obviously it isn’t your job to know exactly what all of these infections are, but it is the job of your anti-spyware program! You better be sure your spyware remover is aware of all the different infections that are out there.

Look for a program that seeks and destroys all of these malicious programs and is able to clear them from your system.

3) Spyware Definition Automatic Updates

Unfortunately, new kinds of spyware make their way onto the internet every single day. The only way you can be safe from these new threats is if your spyware remover “updates” itself so it knows how to find these new types of spyware.

It’s important that your spyware remover automatically updates itself with the new spyware definitions. This allows the program to protect your computer from any new spyware floating around the internet.

3) Automatic Full System Scans

If there’s one thing I know about myself it’s that I can be very forgetful!

For this reason, I always recommend using an anti-spyware program that has automatic system scans. This way you don’t have to remember to open up the program and scan your system for infections each week. Instead, the program will automatically so this without you ever needing to do a thing.

4) Solid customer support

Although it’s extremely rare that you would ever need technical support for a spyware remover (they really just run themselves once installed), I want to know that there is support available just in case it’s ever needed.

I want to see that the company that makes the software stands behind the product and cares enough about their customers to offer prompt, efficient customer service. It’s a little touch that shows their commitment to delivering a quality product.

What kinds of support do I expect? For this type of product I certainly don’t need telephone support, but I do want to see that I have the option to get help by email when I need it.

The link at the bottom of this article is there if you want to read reviews on the best anti-spyware programs on the market. When the reviewers were putting their ratings together they looked at the support options that were available for each program. It’s something that you might not ever use, but it says a lot of the company that produces the software.

When you go hunting for an anti-spyware program, look for these four features so that you know you are using the most effective spyware protection available. You absolutely must defend your system from spyware these days - following these steps lets you surf the net without any worries. Good luck!
